You have picked a product and the wholesaler offers a lower price for a full carton. Should you take it? Before a bulk wholesale order in Algeria, test three separate things: the sample, the consistency of a small lot and the purchases your own customers actually complete. A good photograph or one working sample answers only the first question.

Sample, trial lot and repeat order serve different purposes
A sample lets you inspect the exact model, material, dimensions, function and packaging. A small lot lets you check whether several units match it and whether customers buy the product. A repeat order makes sense only after comparing money collected from completed sales with the costs and defects you observed.
There is no universal trial quantity. Choose an amount you can afford to keep tied up in stock, and ask the seller which exact product reference you will receive at each stage. 1. Request a sample from the proposed stock
Ask for the model code, variant, a packaging photograph and confirmation that the sample comes from the stock on offer. Record the sample and delivery prices. A similar display piece is not evidence about the carton that will arrive later.
When it arrives, photograph the package and test the product's normal function. Depending on the category, check measurements, contents, accessories, finish and label information. Record any mismatch. Algeria's Ministry of Commerce describes conformity checks and consumer information duties. A personal test cannot replace any documents or controls required for a regulated product category.
2. Make the first lot a measurable experiment
Before paying, obtain written confirmation of the reference, variants and quantities, delivered cost to your wilaya, expected dispatch date and the procedure for missing or defective units. Keep the quote and invoice.
Inspect units from different parts of the carton using the same checklist each time. Count units received, examined, saleable and defective. Checking a few units may expose a recurring fault, but it does not prove that every remaining unit is sound. If the delivered reference differs from the one agreed, document the mismatch and resolve it with the seller before offering it to customers.

3. Count paid sales rather than messages
A click, a price question or an undelivered order is not proof of profitable demand. For cash on delivery, track order → confirmation → delivery and payment → any later return. Include the costs you actually pay, such as inbound transport, packaging, advertising, delivery and applicable returns.
Use your own results; do not substitute an invented Algerian return rate or universal margin. A cheaper unit price can also require more cash if the discount tier doubles the quantity. When should you place a larger order?
Set stop conditions before the test: a different reference, repeated functional defects, unknown delivered cost or a negative result on paid sales. Afterwards, confirm that the same reference can still be supplied, that you understand any defects and that the next quantity will not consume the cash needed elsewhere. When the evidence is mixed, change one variable and run another small test.
