Wholesale prices in Algeria: compare supplier quotes before buying

If you are buying stock for an Algerian store, the lowest advertised unit price may not be the cheapest delivered lot. A supplier's minimum order, carton contents, discount threshold and transport to your wilaya all affect the amount you commit before making a sale.

This guide gives you a repeatable way to compare wholesale supplier quotes in Algeria. All DZD prices below are hypothetical illustrations, not observed market rates.

Ask every supplier for the same lot

Write down the exact model or specification, condition, accessories, colours or sizes, pack contents, number of units, and delivery commune and wilaya. Send the same request to each supplier. Also ask how long the quote remains valid. Two boxes called the same product may contain different usable items; compare the product and supplier terms before comparing their prices.

Ask for the price at the quantity you will actually buy. Algeria's Law 04-02, articles 7 and 9 provides for communicating business-to-business prices on request and addresses payment terms and discounts in conditions of sale. That does not imply that every supplier publishes a public online price list.

Calculate the cost delivered to your wilaya

Collect these details for each offer:

Item What to confirm
Product Same specification, accessories and usable units?
Quantity Minimum order and discount threshold for this lot?
Price Unit price, applicable taxes and total payable?
Transport Included to your commune or charged separately?
Terms Payment method, stock, delivery date and remedy for defects?

For comparable lots, divide the total amount needed to receive the stock by the number of usable units. Keep customer delivery, advertising and failed cash-on-delivery orders in a separate profit calculation. Algeria's Executive Decree 05-468 specifies invoice details such as quantities, unit prices, taxes, discounts and certain transport charges. Those are invoice requirements at the time of sale; ask for the figures earlier so you can decide which quote to accept.

A hypothetical DZD example

Assume two suppliers confirm the same 40 units, with equal transport and other terms:

Calculation Supplier A Supplier B
Quoted unit price 1,450 DZD 1,260 DZD
Cost of 40 units 58,000 DZD 50,400 DZD
Difference on the lot 7,600 DZD

At a hypothetical resale price of 3,800 DZD, gross margin before other costs would be 2,350 DZD per unit with A and 2,540 DZD with B. That 190 DZD difference is not net profit. Advertising, customer delivery, rejected COD orders, returns and applicable taxes still matter. Use the COD margin guide for that calculation.

A lower unit price at 100 units may also tie up more cash than a 40-unit trial. Compare the full amount payable now, not just the discount. If you have not tested the item yet, consider a small lot first.

Verify identity and the sale documents

Algeria's CNRC Sidjilcom trader search can help check a business's identity, registration and activity; detailed results may require a subscription. A registry match does not verify today's stock, product quality or a quoted price. Confirm those with the seller.

The Ministry of Commerce invoice FAQ says that for transactions between economic operators, the seller issues an invoice and the buyer requests it. Keep the accepted quote, then check the invoice and goods received against it.

Copy this request to each wholesaler

Hello, please provide a dated quote for [model and specifications], [quantity] units, delivered to [commune, wilaya]. Please confirm the unit price at that quantity, pack contents, discounts, applicable taxes, transport charges, total payable, payment terms, stock, delivery date and quote validity.
